Your July 4th Weekend Guide for Santa Ana & Port Hueneme

Fourth of July fireworks over the Southern California coastline at dusk, with the marine layer on the horizon.

Updated June 29, 2026. A guide from the team at From The Earth.

The Fourth of July lands on a Saturday this year, which means a full weekend with the holiday smack in the middle of it. Independence Day is a celebration, and it is also a good moment to slow down: a thank-you to the people who built and defended this country, and a chance to gather with the folks you care about.

If you are spending the long weekend in Santa Ana or Port Hueneme, both of our neighborhoods sit close to some of the best fireworks shows in their counties. Below is a guide to what is happening near each of our stores, a few quieter ideas if a big crowd is not your thing, and a note on how we are handling the holiday at our shops, including delivery. Wherever you land, please celebrate responsibly and plan ahead. The Fourth is one of the busiest days of the year, on the roads and at our counters.

Santa Ana: Where to Be This July 4th

Costa Mesa Independence Day Celebration (the closest show)

The nearest big celebration to our Santa Ana store is the City of Costa Mesa’s Independence Day event at the OC Fair & Event Center, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, about four miles away. One thing to note on timing: this is a Friday, July 3 event, running roughly 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with fireworks in the evening (sources put it at about 9:00 p.m.). Entry and parking are free, food and drink are for purchase, and you can bring chairs and blankets.

Because the exact fireworks minute has shifted year to year, confirm it on the city’s official Independence Day page before you head out. You can also cross-check the regional roundup at Enjoy Orange County.

Where: OC Fair & Event Center, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. When: Friday, July 3, 2026, about 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., fireworks around 9:00 p.m. (confirm with the city). Cost: free entry and parking.

Other fireworks and events near Santa Ana

If you would rather celebrate on the Fourth itself, Orange County has several strong options on Saturday, July 4:

  • Huntington Beach Fourth of July Celebration. The marquee all-day event in OC, about 17 miles from Santa Ana. The parade runs up Main Street and Fireworks Over the Ocean launch off the pier in the evening. Watching the parade and the beach fireworks is free along most of the route; reserved seats and beach or structure parking are paid. The Surf City 5K runs the morning along the parade route for registered participants. Check the official pages (linked) for the 2026 theme, exact parade and fireworks times, and current parking prices.
  • Independence Day on the Back Bay at Newport Dunes. Saturday, July 4, with fireworks over the Back Bay in the evening and a DJ and a live band through the afternoon. About 14 miles away. Admission is free; parking is paid. Check the official page (linked) for 2026 gate and fireworks times and current parking prices. 1131 Back Bay Drive, Newport Beach. Newport Beach also runs the Old Glory Boat Parade in the harbor on the Fourth.
  • Anaheim Hills Fourth of July Celebration. An all-day community event, about 22 miles out: morning races and a pancake breakfast and dog show at Canyon High School, a hometown parade, then food, entertainment, and fireworks over Peralta Canyon Park. Free community celebration (some sub-events like the race require registration). Confirm exact 2026 times on the city page; a regional roundup is also at SparkOC.
  • Knott’s Berry Farm July 4th Fireworks. A paid theme-park option in Buena Park, about 16 miles away, with fireworks and summer entertainment on the Fourth. This one requires park admission, so check current hours and ticket pricing on knotts.com before you go.

Family Fun This Weekend in Orange County

If you have got kids along, the daytime side of the Fourth is where the fun is. The Huntington Beach celebration has a parade and a 5K, the Newport Dunes event runs music and beach activities all day before the fireworks, and Anaheim Hills packs in a pancake breakfast, a dog show, races, and a hometown parade. All three are family-friendly by design. For a more relaxed daytime plan, the Costa Mesa celebration the night before (Friday, July 3) is the closest to our Santa Ana store and free to attend.

From our Santa Ana store

Our Santa Ana shop at 3023 S. Orange Avenue will be open regular hours all weekend, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, including the Fourth of July. The team will be there if you need anything.

If you are planning to stop in or order ahead, see this weekend’s specials: fromtheearth.com/sa-specials/. Our budtenders can also walk you through the Santa Ana menu if you want to order ahead and pick up, or have it delivered. Holiday mornings move fast, so ordering early is the smoothest way through the door.

Port Hueneme: Where to Be This July 4th

Fireworks by the Sea at Channel Islands Harbor (the closest show)

If you are near our Port Hueneme store, the headline event is right down the road. Fireworks by the Sea at Channel Islands Harbor, a seaside Fourth of July celebration, sits about three miles away at 3850 Harbor Boulevard, Oxnard. The day runs with a farmers and artisan market, children’s rides, games, food vendors, and live entertainment, building toward fireworks over the water in the evening on Saturday, July 4.

Two highlights worth timing your visit around: a family and children’s parade along Harbor Boulevard and an electric boat parade, when decorated boats cruise the channels. It is free to attend, and parking fills early, so arrive with time to spare. For 2026 schedule times, check the official pages: the Ventura County Coast event page and the Channel Islands Harbor site.

Where: Channel Islands Harbor, 3850 Harbor Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93035. When: Saturday, July 4, 2026, daytime festivities leading into evening fireworks (confirm times on the official pages, linked). Cost: free to attend (parking fills early).

Other fireworks and events near Port Hueneme

Ventura County has a packed Fourth of July calendar. A few worth knowing about:

  • Ventura 4th of July Street Fair and Pushem-Pullem Parade. In downtown Ventura on Saturday, July 4, about 13 miles from Port Hueneme. The children’s Pushem-Pullem Parade starts by Cemetery Memorial Park and leads into a street fair on Main Street with vendors, a car exhibit, food trucks, a kids’ area, and live music. Free. Confirm exact 2026 times on the city page; more at Ventura County Coast.
  • Ventura’s evening fireworks. One change to flag for 2026: the city of Ventura is running a free community fireworks show downtown on Friday, July 3, shot from a parking garage on Santa Clara Street with viewing at Plaza Park and throughout downtown. The traditional Ventura College show is not happening this year, so head downtown for 2026. Confirm the final date, time, and any audio simulcast details on the official page closer to the holiday.
  • City of Camarillo Fourth of July Fireworks. An annual community show at the Camarillo Premium Outlets, about 13 miles away, on Saturday, July 4. Road closures go up before the show, so arrive early and park to watch. Confirm the start time and any audio simulcast details on the city page or via Visit Camarillo.

One note for locals: Naval Base Ventura County hosts its own Fourth of July fireworks viewing at NBVC Port Hueneme, but that is generally a base event. The public seaside option is the Channel Islands Harbor show, and parts of the evening sky over the harbor and base are visible from the surrounding area.

Family Fun This Weekend in Ventura County

The Channel Islands Harbor celebration is the easy family pick near Port Hueneme: a children’s parade, an electric boat parade, rides and games, and seaside fireworks all in one place, all free to attend. The downtown Ventura Street Fair on the Fourth is another good daytime plan, with a kids’ parade and a vendor fair on Main Street. Between the two, you can fill the day without driving far.

From our Port Hueneme store

Our Port Hueneme shop at 2675 N Ventura Road, Suite 107 is the original From The Earth store. Ventura County is where this whole thing started for us. Open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, the Fourth included.

Browse the Port Hueneme menu to order ahead and pick up, or have it delivered around Oxnard, Ventura, and Camarillo. For current deals, the most reliable place to look is our specials page at fromtheearth.com/sa-specials/.

A Note for Veterans and the Community

Independence Day and Ventura County go hand in hand. Naval Base Ventura County is part of the fabric here, and a lot of our Port Hueneme neighbors are active-duty, veterans, or military families. If you served, thank you. From The Earth offers a veteran discount at both of our stores. Bring valid military ID and let the budtender know when you check in, and they will take care of you. The team is also glad to walk you through products and answer questions, discount aside.

The conversation around cannabis and veterans’ health has grown in recent years. Resources like the Veterans Affairs Public Health office and the Marijuana Policy Project’s work on access for veterans track how veterans across the country are exploring cannabis as part of broader wellness conversations with their providers. We are not in a position to make health claims, and we will not. What we can offer is lab-tested products, an experienced team, and a counter where you can ask real questions and get real answers.

Quieter Picks for the Long Weekend

If the crowds and the big fireworks are not the move, here are a few lower-key ideas near each store, the kind of thing that makes the long weekend actually feel long.

Around Santa Ana:

  • 4th Street Market. Walk the historic downtown core and grab a coffee or a bite between plans.
  • Bowers Museum. A cool, calm afternoon indoors when the holiday heat picks up. About a mile from downtown.
  • Discovery Cube Orange County. A hands-on science museum in Santa Ana and a solid pick with kids.

Around Port Hueneme:

  • Hueneme Beach Park. Uncrowded compared to the bigger Ventura and Oxnard stretches. A quiet place to spend a holiday afternoon.
  • Channel Islands Harbor. A short drive from the store, and outside of the fireworks-night rush it keeps an easy marina-town pace.
  • The Hueneme Pier itself. Open around the clock, and the morning marine layer before the crowds arrive is its own kind of peaceful.
